Muḥammad b. Maḥmūd, his friend (?)
Praise and thanks be to God.
The illustrious naqīb and muʿtamid al-dawla, amīn al-ḥaḍra, Abū Bakr, shall take note that presently,
2 donkey loads of grain have been sent. He should kindly instruct that
they pour it into the mill, so that [the flour] is crushed and could even be sent out this evening.
That friend [i.e. the miller] knows that if the flour had been ready,
this would not have caused him such a headache. If that friend’s mill is free,
then all is well; if not, you can commission any other free mill around there
to process [the grain]. This would be much appreciated.
